Public announcement 31/5/18

As many of you may have seen, there have been a spate of posts on social media from a now inactive member of the Jersey Garrison indicating that we will not be attending certain events. Unfortunately, we no longer have access to those pages which were once our public pages, these have now been used misleadingly to suggest that they continue to speak for the team, they do not. We take this matter very seriously.

We are sorry that this has happened and that you, our supporters and fans, have been hurt by this.

But we need your help to rebuild our page so we can keep on supporting local charities, community events and our antics out and about around Jersey.

Please give our new Official Page a Like and a Share, help us help Jersey and keep the magic alive.

The Jersey Garrison is dedicated to supporting Jersey charities and community events, we are proud of our fans and the Jersey community and grateful for their support over the years. We continue to be proud to bring a little bit of a galaxy far, far away to our island and bring a little bit of laughter, for great causes and a great community.

May the Force be with you, always.

Chewie, R2D2 and a Tusken Raider were happy to lend a hand to supporters, Falles Bagot Garage, who are official partners for the "Solo" movie. Not sure it'll make it past light speed but Chewie was impressed with the leg room!

A few members of the Garrison assembled for a photo shoot with Vince Thorne today, which is for a feature in"Sci-Fi Now" magazine, a global publication.  This is to promote the "Galaxy Sci-Fi" event in Jersey 22-24th June 2018.  Ticket details from the Opera House Jersey or Prestige Events

Tickets have now arrived and are available at Bean Around the World and JSSK, as well as the Jersey Garrison and Premier Brass. Please make sure you choose the showing you want and get the correct ticket!

Bad Guys Doing Good

The Jersey Garrison Stormtroopers donated £4500 to three local children's charities at a private reception at the So Bar on Saturday evening.
Throughout the year, members of the Garrison are regularly seen attending public and private events and the donations they collect are given to deserving causes, typically children's charities at the beginning of May each year. This year the money was split between Autism Jersey, Friends of SCBU and the Teenage Cancer Trust with each receiving £1500.
Garrison Commander Paul Bentley said "Thanks to everyone who has booked us and donated to our fundraising efforts. I'm so proud that our members were able to support three fantastic local charities, helping local children and families going through life-changing challenges. Also a huge thank you to Randalls and So Bar for hosting our special evening."

Thank you so much to all our sponsors and wellwishers who supported the Garrison during the Friends of SCBU 5K walk on September 18th. It's not too late sponsor us, you can do so by clicking on this link and we will update with a total sum raised over the course of the next week.

What is the Jersey Garrison?

The Jersey Garrison was set up to bring the ever growing number of Star Wars costuming fans in Jersey together under one umbrella organisation, which closely aligns itself to the code and ethics of the 501st Legion, the largest costuming society in the world.

The Legion is an all-volunteer organisation formed for the express purpose of bringing together costume enthusiasts under a collective identity within which to operate. The Legion seeks to promote interest in Star Wars through the building and wearing of quality costumes, and to facilitate the use of these costumes for Star Wars-related events as well as contributions to the local community through costumed charity and volunteer work.

We operate on a donations basis for attending a variety of events, or if the event is already raising money for a recognised childrens charity, we never charge charities or people that benefit from them.

To date, several charities have benefitted from our fundraising.  To date (as at 2018) we have raised nearly £13,000 for Charity as well as bringing the magic of Star Wars to life for countless children you and old, across the Island.

We are also here to help with costuming enquiries if you wish to join the members in our ranks.  We adhere to the 501st Costume Reference Library guidelines and have a wealth of knowledge within the Garrison to aid you with building a costume, from the parts to buy to fitting it to your body shape.
